QAnon is a conspiracy theory based movement that has become an increasing national and international threat due to the extreme nature of the conspiracy theories which are predominantly spread online. Various political and social figures have shown their support for the QAnon movement, leading to further recruitment and mobilization of extremist actors. Current countermeasures against the spread of QAnon lore online are based on removing content and banning profiles. However, without the input of critical thinking, online literacy, and counter-messaging campaigns, those susceptible to QAnon recruitment are highly likely to migrate to less moderated platforms and create an echo chamber of QAnon conspiracy theories. It is vital that social media platforms, NGOs, CSOs, and governmental bodies take action against the spread of QAnon conspiracy theories to lessen the threat of QAnon and conspiracy theory based violence.
